8) Pradeep K. Khosla -

Pradeep K. Khosla is the Dean of the College of Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University. He is the Philip and Marsha Dowd University Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Robotics at the Carnegie Institute. He completed his B.Tech, with honours, from IIT (Kharagpur). He then worked with Siemens and Tata Consulting Engineers in the field of real-time control. He got his Ph.D. and M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Apart from being a professor at Carnegie, he was also deemed a visionary and leader. He headed various depts. there, such as - Founding Director of Institute for Complex Engineered Systems (ICES), Director of Information Networking Institute, Dept Head of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Founding Director of Carnegie Mellon CyLab. He was the Program Manager at DARPA from 1994 to 1996. There, he worked on - distributed systems, intelligent systems, internet-enabled software infrastructure and real-time systems. He was on the advisory boards of – Alcoa, ITU Ventures and LLC. He is the Board member and co-founder of No Fuss, BioMetricore and Quantapoint. He is also on the board of - Pittsburgh Technology Council, Doyle Center, Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative (PTEI), Mellon-Pitt (MPC) Corporation, IIT Foundation, Children’s Institute and HCL Infosystems. He has been the key-note speakers at various events on leadership, conducted by Blouin Foundation, Techonomy, World Economic Forum, Milken Institute, AMD and Fortune Magazine. He has also been on the editorial teams of various journals. HE has received many awards, like - Pan IIT Academic Excellence Award in 2009, lifetime achievement award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in 2009, Cyber Education Award from the Business Software Alliance in 2007, W. Wallace McDowell Award from IEEE Computer Society in 2001 and ASEE George Westinghouse Award for Education in 1999. He is also the members of the following groups - IEEE, AAAS, National Academy of Engineering (NAE), American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS) and American Association of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).
