Bangalore: Twitter and Facebook were the main means of communication when the cell phones were jammed in Mumbai after the three serial blasts on Wednesday. People used these websites to keep in touch and to seek help. Many volunteered to help the sufferers. On the day of blasts, people tuned themselves to the social networking sites to know the group conditions. Google doc spreadsheet was created by Nitin Sagar from New Delhi which is still accessible and contains all the address and phone numbers of people who are ready to offer help to the needy. People who needed help were able to access this document to ask for any kind of help they needed. The list of people who were injured and admitted in hospital was also included. The twitter hashtag #heretohelp also became popular among people to converse and seek help. People wanted traffic updates, place to stay, transportation and donation of blood and such other help was posted. There were several rumors posted too. There were hundreds of updates in twitter and Facebook asking for help and also people volunteering to help out by revealing their living location and phone numbers. Maximum help was pledged on twitter as the Google doc spreadsheet created by Nitin Sagar was uploaded on twitter. Website like Google+, Google maps and the Mumbai blog also gathered useful contact information. It was the day when whole India came together to help each other through the networking sites and is something to be appreciated for the smart brains who innovated such ideas.
