East Indian Food

The food here has a strong influence of Chinese and Mangolian cuisine and people of this region are a combination of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Fish is the most preferred non-vegetarian food in the coastal areas and pork in other regions. Rice with fish curry is the staple food of people of Bengal and 'Hilsa' is one of most preferred fish among the people of this region.  Momos, Thukapa (soup), tomato pickle, Machcher Jhol (fish curry), Sandesh (sweet), etc are some of the popular dishes of East India. Also, East Indians have a special love for sweets and some of the famous sweets come from this part of the country.
