5.8 million in seed funding from VAS Capital. IndiaCollegeSearch.com was incubated by the Indian Angel Network, and plans to use the funds for product development, with the new version of the site almost ready for launch. Apart from the funding, the board of directors would now include Vikram Kant Upadhyaya from the Indian Angel Network (as the Chief Mentor) and Raveesh Malhotra from VAS Capital.
Founded in 2010 by Anirudh Motwani and Parul Bansal, the search engine helps students to filter information based on the state or the specialization, which ensures that they don't lose out on queries. The site would focus in bringing targeted traffic and monetize the same via advertising. According to Anirudh Motwani, Co-Founder and CEO, IndiaSearchCollege.com, the roadmaps include replacing the current prototype with an improved website which incorporates all colleges and courses in India, launch a new website with over 3000 MBA & engineering colleges, and add the information about the placement, infrastructure, faculty, cut-offs and in-depth college reviews.
Motwani, Co-Founder and CEO, IndiaCollegeSearch.com, has done his Bachelors in Engineering (Hons), Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani-Dubai. He has worked as a product consultant at Cvent, an intern at Tech Mahindra, and as a sales executive at The Cobra Group.
Bansal, Co-Founder, IndiaSearchCollege.com, has done her Masters in Business Administration from ICFAI Business School, and B.A Mathematics from Jesus and Mary College, New Delhi. She has worked as a wealth manager at Aditya Birla Group, and Treasury Management at NTPC Ltd.
VAS Capital is a financial consultancy operating in the investment and banking space. It specializes in fund raising through from debt syndications, private equity syndications, M&A and transaction advisory, valuation and business planning, with an enviable background comprising of a committed band of MBAs from premier national and international management institutes.
