New Delhi: India and Britain have agreed to set up a partnership fund for "pro-poor renewables" on a priority basis to scale up installation of renewable energy technology in a cost effective and efficient manner.
India's Minister of New & Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah and British Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change Greg Barker held detailed discussions Tuesday on cooperation in the field of renewable energy.
Barker emphasised the need for private investment in addition to government funds to promote renewables. He also suggested that India consider tapping funds from Britain's Capital Market Climate Initiative.
