IBM websphere tops application software

Chennai: According to research firm IDC, IBM's Websphere tops as the market leader in the Application Deployment Software market in India.
As per IDC Packaged Software Tracker 2006, IBM Websphere's market share marked 28 percent. In the previous financial year, IBM has bagged significant customers and has seen maximum traction in the Telecom and Banking sectors in Websphere adoption.
IBM said, "With customers like, State Bank of India, Max Newyork Life, HDFC, Tata Sky and BSNL, IBM has emerged as the most preferred partner in application software."
Websphere has been one of the fastest growing areas for IBM Software Group and more than 9,000 independent software vendors from across the world write applications on top of Websphere.
"The leadership ranking by IDC, positions our Websphere portfolio as a robust, integration intensive and flexible set of software solutions in the industry," said Panini Dwivedi, Country Manager, Websphere, IBM India/South Asia.
