IBM India to explore new verticals

Bangalore: IBM, a global IT firm, has a steady growth in the India market and now trying to explore new ways of success. With a strong double digit growth, IBM is continuing to drive this momentum by identifying newer verticals of business opportunities in India, reported The Economic Times. "There are emerging areas we are investing in like energy and utility, real estate and media and entertainment. There has been a major success in the insurance sector." said Shanker Annaswamy, Managing Director, IBM india. The company has also been successful in the field of financial services, automobile and government. In the last quarter of 2007, IBM signed deals worth over $ 1 billion. IBM India is now growing as a global provider of IT services as well as addressing the needs of the domestic market. Realizing the potential of the Indian market, the company is developing new strategies in order to become the number one player in IT and related services. The head count of IBM India has seen a rapid increase from a level of 9,000 to around 73,000 at present.
