IAF 'Women Air Warriors' Prove Their Mettle in Uttarakhand Rescue

On the other hand the spouses of both the women are also helicopter pilots, Squadron Leaders S K Pradhan and Vikram Thiagaraman who are a part of the Operation Rahat, which is the largest air transport of people and relief supplies carried out by the IAF. Both the pilots are operating on their bigger Mi-17 helicopters from Dehradun as their base.

Khusboo feels privileged that both the partners can at least contribute at this grievous time where there is destruction at a very large scale. She has already rescued over 90 people from around Jungle Chetti and other places where larger helicopters like Mi-17s cannot enter by acting both as the pilot and co-pilot as per mission requirements. Though it was a very risky task of landing Cheetah in very restricted spaces but the smiles on the people rescued has satisfied the pilot.

Both Khushboo and Tanya, "women air warriors" have mostly defeated their male colleagues when it comes to military aviation skills. With their sheer determination and the passion for their work, they outshine their male counterparts of the armed forces.
