BANGALORE: iSOFT R and D, the Indian subsidiary of iSOFT Group, a $1.5 billion UK-based IT product company and suppliers of application systems for hospitals and healthcare organisations has leased an additional 30,000 sq. ft. of office space in Chennai to meet its expansion needs. With this, iSOFT's total usage increases to 90,000 sq. ft. in Chennai. Equally as important to note, iSOFT's unique strategy of targeting office space at employee-convenient and accessible locations, the fresh additions further develop iSOFT's existing city centre locations. The nfrastructure expansion is consistent with iSOFT's headcount growth. Starting the year 2004 with 250 employees, iSOFT is concluding the year with more than 1100 as part of an aggressive development plan for its flagship product LORENZO. Keeping in mind the important role iSOFT is playing in National Programme for IT (world's largest civilian IT project initiated by NHS, U.K.), iSOFT's Product Development facility in Chennai is at the heart of designing the next generation of IT products based on a 'Service Oriented Architecture'. Commenting on the recent expansion, Ravan Boddu CEO, Indian operations, said, "Starting the year with 250 employees, we have been increasing the headcount at a rapid rate. Our office space requirements have also increased proportionately and I am happy to see that we have managed the expansion within the city. Being a product-company, driven by innovation, it is critical that we offer an extremely convenient and accessible workplace to our employees." Established in 1994 as an in-house unit of KPMG, iSOFT Group plc. is today the 4th largest Computer and Software Services Company on the London Stock Exchange.
