Hungama launches TheGameBox.com as a social gaming site
Bangalore: Hungama Game Studio, a division of Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, has renamed GamingHungama.com as TheGameBox.com as a social gaming site. The site offers Flash-based casual games in various categories including logic and puzzle, racing and sports, Bollywood, action and word games, among others. Founded in 1999 with a team of just four inspired individuals, today it encompasses more than 750 employees and offices located in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Dubai, Singapore and the U.S.A. It has now become the largest aggregator, developer, publisher and distributor of Bollywood and South-Asian entertainment content in the world. With partnerships with over 305 content creators, across record labels, studios, broadcasters Hungama has licensed worldwide exclusive digital rights to over 4 million music and video titles. The company says that the launch enables the users to experience casual gaming and social networking within TheGameBox.com, which offers a mix of single and multi-player games along with a balance of social and content features. Manish Mallik, General Manager, Hungama Game Studio, said that Hungama provides an existing new platform to socialize and have fun with your friends while challenging them to thrilling games, with TheGameBox, which have mesmerizing games spanning across all genres. Hungama Game Studio has also collaborated with Exponential Entertainment to launch Hollywood and Bollywood based games on the website. The social element comes encompassed with Facebook and Twitter integration to invite friends from the social networks to play or network with other Game Box users, chat, compare scores and challenge them. The home page of the site displays popular games for Quick Play, a list of the top 10 games, challenges and score leader board. The games can be played without registering on the site, but the user will be able to social features only after sign-up. Each user will get a profile page complete with personal information, friend list, list of recently played games, game medals, comments, challenges played, top scores and favorites. The users can also download games in .swf format. With some funny games like Poll Prachar, where you select your neta (politician) and fire him like a cannon ball to cover the maximum number of houses. Xio Wants Stars game is heavily inspired from the popular iOS game Cut The Rope. The Bollywood game section have games based on specific movies like Ready, Om Shanti Om, Kurbaan, Billu Barber and Love Aaj Kal and other games are Hop Skip n Jump, Toss The Coin, Loadshifter, Diva, strategy games such as Sudoku, Classic Chekers, Word Burst and few other in the pipeline. There is a page for the developers, still in Alpha testing stage, to submit their games to Hungama and choose a sponsorship option to upload the game with Hungama's API, make it eligible for revenue sharing, sell the game to them and even let the hungama team to take the content to brands, license and share the revenue with the developer.
