The London arm is the only oversees branch of the Pune-based TASMAC educational establishment which has a network of management institutes in Pune, Bangalroe and Kolkata. The oversees campus was commenced in 2004. The officials of the chain of institutes blamed the stringent visa policies for the close down. The London campus was running with just half the number of students of around 550 students, although it had a capacity of 1200. UK has made several changes in its current student visa regime of late. The new rules necessitate the institutions planning to sponsor students to be classed as Highly Trusted sponsor. It also demands the institutions to be accredited by a statutory education inspection body. Although efforts are being made to accommodate the affected students to other universities such as University of Wales, the transfers would be subject to the requirements of the UK Borders Agency. The statement released in London also states, "If students do have to leave the country for any reason, the University will offer the opportunity to transfer them on to a distance learning programme."
