HP unveils a range of new products


Bangalore: HP has unveiled a range of products including a light weight laptop PC and a new netbook. The products include HP ProBook 5310m, HP Pavilion dm3, ENVY 13/15 and HP Mini 110/311. Microsoft Windows 7 will be released on October 22 and it is expected to influence the sales of PCs. According to IDC, the thin and light notebook market represents a significant growth opportunity over the next several years. Over the next five years, this category is forecasted to grow three times faster than the overall notebook market in the United States, which is a trend that is expected to spread worldwide. HP is marking its entry into the high-end, ultra-thin consumer PC market with its new Envy sub-brand. It is powered by Intel Core i7 processor and up to 16 gigabytes (GB) of DDR3 1,066-MHz system memory in four SODIMM memory slots. "HP ENVY includes the latest in materials and technology inside and out and pushes the technological and performance boundaries of what can be done in sleek, powerful and lightweight notebook PCs," said Ted Clark, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Notebook Global Business Unit, Personal Systems Group, HP. Envy 15 is HP's fastest notebook and is available at $1,799 while HP ENVY 13 is available at $1,699. Envy will go head-to-head with Apple Inc's MacBook Air and Dell Inc's Adamo which are available at $1,500. HP ProBook 5310m is designed for mobile professionals. It is 0.9-inch thin and weighs 3.7 pound. It has a 13.3-inch diagonal LED high-definition. ProBook uses Intel Core 2 Duo SP9300 and gives up to seven hours of battery life. It is ideal for computing tasks such as email, calendar and office applications, and it provides the ability to view HD content, consume and create content, and access the Internet. The HP ProBook 5310m starts at $699 with an Intel Celeron dual core and $899 with Intel Core 2 Duo. The HP Pavilion dm3 comes with 10 hours of battery life. It also has 13.3-inch diagonal LED screen and choice of AMD or Intel processors and discrete graphics to meet the multimedia needs of demanding consumers. "Striking designs, impressive product features, outstanding value and a focus on computing performance add up to a mobile experience second to none. These new notebooks further validate our position as an undisputed leader in notebook design and raise the bar for the entire thin and light category," said Clark. The HP Pavilion dm3 is priced at $549 with an AMD processor and $649 with an Intel processor. Weighing only 2.68 pounds and measuring just over an inch thin, the HP Mini 110 by Studio Tord Boontje (acclaimed Dutch designer) features a 10.1-inch, mercury-free LED display and a 92 percent of full-size keyboard. HP Mini 311 has an 11.6-inch, high-definition widescreen display and NVIDIA ION graphics. The HP Mini series is priced at $399. HP also announced several other products, including the HP Pavilion MS200 consumer desktop PC, the HP MediaSmart Server EX 490/EX495 consumer home server, the HP Compaq Pro 6000 and HP Compaq Pro 6005 business desktop PCs and various HP and Compaq widescreen LCD business displays.
