HP Adds Another Feather to its Cap: HP Cloud

HP’s MySQL as a service:

The HP Cloud's MySQL service is incorporated with all the features of a MySQL database. The proprietary SQL service also provides a unique feature of porting the code from one machine to another.

Security is another prominent factor in HP’s cloud. For instance, each object created is been duplicated into three copies which are later pushed into three different zones, each with its own backup and with dual internet connections. This is a certain advantage when compared to other services like Google Compute Engine and Amazon Web Services.

HP is also adding some other services to round out the product line. For starters, libraries of Ruby, Java, Clojure, PHP, and .Net routines are available. HP has also partnered with New Relic, the makers of a performance monitoring toolkit, integrated in HP Cloud.

HP’s well-played catch-up play is certainly gaining momentum. With OpenStack technology and the price list as the trump cards, HP is trying its best to thrust themselves into the cloud community. The company is counting on open standards and easy portability to attract enterprises, which certainly is a good strategy.
