A small group of employees from Odeo had a brainstorming session for a name that fits best with the theme of a mobile phone buzzing an update in one's pocket. They narrowed down with few names including Jitter and Twitter, after which they put them in a hat for the fate to decide. And this is how one of the most popular social networking site "Twitter" got its name.
