Amarmani Tripathi Former UP minister Amarmani Tripathi, who is serving a life sentence in the Varanasi Central Jail for the murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla, was out of prison on a "sick leave" for two months. After two hospitals denied him entry, stating he was perfectly fine, Tripathi finally secured admission at Sir Sunder Lal Hospital in Banaras Hindu University. Special Director General of Police ordered an inquiry as he did not know Tripathi was out of jail for two months.The state government was forced to investigate whether Tripathi had stayed in the hospital due to genuine health problems or did he influence the jail authorities to stay out of jail?
