The turning point was when Duckett was asked to design 10 decorative coffins for her employer’s Halloween event. "That was one of the turning point moments when I began to realize I have a skill set that other people didn’t have," she says. After gaining confidence from her previous experiences, she got another big project of designing 25 silk chandeliers for the Mirage in Las Vegas.

Duckett slowly realized that she was making more money than her regular job and quit her job. She also rented an 800 square warehouse and hired three seamstresses with which she generated $80,000 in revenue her first year.

Duckett also tried to establish her company as a brand and started designing bags and other products with a logo. "I realized that people weren’t buying me; they wanted to buy a brand," she says. She slowly started renting out products and props which earned her $5 million in addition to $1.2 million from her second business Rent what? Duckett is now a happy entrepreneur who converted her passion into a profession; she now manages 44 employees in both the businesses.
