Bangalore: Hitpad, a new app for the easiest and quickest way to see what's going on today, is going to enter the news curation market for iPad. Hitpad was launched at the Techonomy conference in Tel Aviv on first week of April, 2011. Hitpad delivers bite-size information snippets about the most important topics of the day, highlighting why they are important, so the user is informed about the current news in no time and with very little effort. The app displays top stories by default. Hitpad displays the current top news stories across a range of categories, from current affairs, technology to entertainment, sports and U.S. and world news. Hippad gives the user a single-sentence description of why each story is popular, and the user can then drill down to news reports and related multimedia content to get a better understanding. Hitpad displays the chosen topics across the top or down the side of the screen, depending on user's orientation. And when users want to read an article, the app launches the original source's web page inline. Even though Hitpad states that it is the fastest app and wants users to put minimal effort, the app deeply lacks customization options. Users can't create their own feeds, save their searches or reorder the columns. The videos are taken from YouTube, and most of those are not related to the news topic and it depends on the keyword that we put. In terms of photo and web links sections, the same issues happen. In this way, the app becomes more of a reference tool than a pure news aggregator.
