Fremont: Washington D.C.-based local search engine Seva Search has raised $1.3 million in series A round of funding from multiple investors. It plans to use the funds for improving its market and products. The company is trying to change the way how consumers search for vendors and how vendors look for new customers. Seva Search, founded by three NRIs, Gurpreet Singh, Manpreet Singh and Amandeep Bakshi, plans to launch a search engine that lets consumers connect to local businesses in real-time via phone. Its approach to business is to give power to the voice and bring back its personal touch, with its debut product Seva Call. It focuses on the hyper local search market and hopes that Seva Call would help find quality businesses that can meet the needs of the customers and the vendors at their convenience. According to Gurpreet Singh, CEO, Seva Search, the technology combines phone with the old and the new technology to make the consumer talk to the vendor prior to choosing him or her; the vendor gets access to new markets; the business builds a customer database during the process of receiving the requests.
