Gujarat's Gets a Golden Temple


Ahmedabad: A two-day ceremony to unveil Gujarat's first ever Golden Temple began Saturday in Bhavnagar.

The main function will be held Sunday at Gopinathji Dev Mandir, popularly known as Gadhada Swaminarayan Mandir, 125 km from here.

A total of 70 kg of gold worth 21 crore has been used, S.P. Swami of the temple told IANS.

There are six Swaminarayan temples in Gadhada in Bhavnagar, and Gopinathji Dev Mandir is where Lord Swaminarayan spent 29 years.

As many as 1,500-2,000 devotees visit the temple daily.
