5. Buying Youtube:
In 2006 Google bought Youtube $1.65 billion. By far it was the most expensive purchase made by Google during its eight-year history. While most videos in Youtube were homemade videos, it did not carry a good content as it was known for volumes of copyrighted material. This caused a disappointment among the content owners from Hollywood and distrust from them is one reason why Google still doesn't have an iTunes equivalent.
