Google mulls over new VC arm - Google Venture

Bangalore: The internet giant Google, was recently seen to be delving into varied spaces and currently, it is rumored to be betting on the venture capital (VC) sphere. With the launch of its VC arm Google Venture, it will join the foray of many other IT giants like Cisco, Nokia, Qualcomm and Motorola - who already have their own venture funds. Rich Miner, the Head of Google's Android project, would be affiliated with the company's VC arm, reports Reuters. Miner, who joined Google in 2005 after the search giant acquired Android way back in 2005, is responsible for wireless platforms. He joined Google in 2005 when the search giant acquired Android, a company he co-founded and which is the basis of Google's new smartphone operating system. A Google spokesman commented on Google Ventures, "It's a project we're working on. We're not able to discuss the details right now." However, he declined to comment on any role of Rich Miner in the project.
