Bangalore: There is speculation that Facebook and Google are thinking for an acquisition of Skype or a joint venture. Facebook,CEO, Mark Zuckerberg is in internal discussions about buying Skype. At the same time Google has also held early talks for a joint venture with Skype. As the discussions are still in early stage, there is no definite information about the deal. However the Skype deal could be valued at $3 billion to $4 billion and Skype's Initial Public Offering (IPO) is expected to raise about $1 billion. In October 2010, Skype 5.0 was released and the new version offered voice calling between Facebook friends, but it did not include a video chatting feature. But in 2011, Skype has added a group video calling feature that allows 10 people to videoconference together. The tie up with Skype as a partner would expand Facebook's user base and it would help to grow in international markets.
