San Francisco: World's largest internet company, Google has acquired Tatter, a Korean blogging software developer. However the both of the companies did not reveal the cost of the deal.
Chang-Won Kim, Tatter Co-Chief executive, said that the acquisition would help Google increase its market share in the country. He mentioned that Googles market share in Korea is minor and Korean web users mainly use portals such as Yahoo.
In a statement Google said, "The acquisition will allow us to enhance our publishing tools in Korea." Tatter has a blogging platform called Texcube which is now concentrating at Korea, and Google will try to introduce Textcube to bloggers outside Korea too in addition to its own blogging software Blogger, which the company bought in 2003.
The acquisition is Google's third in 2008. Earlier, Google had reached an agreement to buy Rambler Media, a Russian contextual advertising firm, for $140 million, before two months.
