Bangalore: A new report has claimed that the Android mobile OS will be used to control unspecified features through a smartphone rather than the car itself. With this the rumor that GM is partnering with Google to bring Android mobile OS integration is expected to become official soon, reports Electronista.
GM is increasingly looking to appeal to younger buyers with its products, and one way it aims to do so is by introducing new technology meant to challenge Ford's Sync features. Currently, OnStar can provide navigation directions, relay calls, track and shutdown stolen vehicles and help look up points of interest, but often relies on a live operator.
If OnStar does make an announcement next week, it will be much sooner than the originally expected 2011 launch of any new features.
