The flag hoisting ceremony on Republic Day at Jaitapur nuclear power plant in Mumbia is all set to be boycotted by gram panchayat members in the village. The protest is peaking against the controversial plant. As the state is pushing the plant project forcibly down the throats, protest seems like the best way for people to show their anger and rage. The protest has been names as "jail bharo andolan" and it has been in action from 24th January. A chief stir is being down for for the Republic Day, as the activists appeals the grampanchayat members to boycott all government functions. "On the contrary, we will be hoisting flags at our villages in private functions," said Satyajit Chavan of the Konkan Vinashkari Prakalp Virodhi Samiti. The activists in 22 villages around do not wish for power plant, villagers buried a symbolic dead body of the nuclear plant in Sakhri Natye village, swearing to not let it enter the region.
