MIT's Technology Review honors India's top young innovators

4. Aishwarya Lakshmi Ratan
Aishwarya, working with Microsoft Research, Bangalore created a hybrid paper, pen, and digital slate solution for a low-cost digital record management system. Her innovation enables users use a normal pen and a plain paper to record data and instantly store it digitally. Aishwarya's team built a digital financial record management application, on top of the device, that follows the structure of the paper accounting system used by the SHGs.
5. Gautam Kumar
Gautam Kumar, 26, from Bhubaneswar was named as the Social Innovator of the year. Kumar has developed a simple gas detection system using a sensor and communication module to issue warning to user's registered mobile phone. This helps to prevent cylinder blasts occurring due to cylinder leakages. Called Suraksha (safety in Hindi), it is another innovation that should improve safety levels in millions of Indian homes in the coming years.
6. Srinivasan Jayaraman
Srinivasan Jayaraman, Tata Consultancy Services, Bangalore has devised a secure system using human ECG to authenticate, identify and diagnose.
