Bangalore: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee is in limelight again for a different reason. The prestigious Harvard University has sent her an invitation to deliver a lecture on the major regime change in the state. After her landmark victory in the recently concluded elections, bringing an end to decades of communist rule, Mamata is being seen as a pioneer of political change in the state of West Bengal. The popularity of the Chief Minister has now crossed national boundaries. The Chief Minister has been given the twin topics of 'culture and politics in West Bengal' or 'democratic changes in Bengal' to choose. She could also come up with her own topic. The invitation was given by Sugat Bose, Gardiner professor, history and affairs department, Harvard University to the state secretariat in Kolkata.

The CM has, however, not yet confirmed the invitation. It is to be noted that Banerjee had last year refused an invitation from Cambridge University citing law and order problem in her state. The sources close to the Chief Minister said this time around Banerjee is keen to accept the invitation even though no dates have been fixed. The Harvard University has, meanwhile, indicated late October to the first week of November as its preferred period for the lecture.
