It shall be the duty of every citizens of India to promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood amongst all the people of India transcending religious, linguistic and regional or sectional diversities; to renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women. But this is not the scene in India yet. The brotherhood emotions is hurt and ignited over and over again on some or the other issues. Rural areas still have dowry systems. Recently on 7th of Jan 2012, a dalit woman was beaten brutally and disrespected.

It shall be the duty of every citizens of India to uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India. On 1th of May 2011, nearly 500 Hindu villagers attacked a church and beat the pastor and his family and harassed sexually the female members of the church in a small village of Karnataka. They also burned the bibles and other Christian literature. Can anything else be said to describe the unity what Indians share in their country?

The duties further mentions, “It shall be the duty of every citizens of India to develop the scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform; to safeguard public property and to abjure violence; to strive towards excellence in all spheres of individuals and collective activity so that the nation constantly rises to higher levels of endeavour and achievement.”
