Bangalore: With your skin drying constantly, exfoliating it is a good way to keep it looking great. Papaya is considered as a wonderful wholesome fruit as it meets with some of our most essential Vitamins, Minerals and Protein needs. Both ripe and raw papaya can be used to rejuvenate the skin. Ripe papaya is excellent for exfoliationg the skin and brings about newer looking skin and generally suits all skin types. Recipe for skin rejuvenation: Face: 1/2 Cup ripe papaya pulp. 1/4 cup coconut milk 1/4 Cup of oat flakes. Run the mixture on face and neck gently for about 5 minutes. Wash off with milk and water and notice the glow for yourself. Recipe for skin glow: 1/2 Cup ripe Papaya pulp 4 Tsp orange juice 4 Tsp carrot juice 1 tsp honey or glycerin Mix the above and apply or massage the pack all over the face and neck. Regular applications of the above two-treatments can do wonders to the face. 3 Important steps to be followed: Step1- Exfoliating the dryness away: * With your skin drying constantly, exfoliating it is a good way to keep it looking great. * Exfoliation can be done with Chemical peels like glycolic, lactic acids and polyhydroxy peel. * Microdermabrasion, crystal, ultrasonic can be done considering skin type and sensitivity. Exfoliation buffs away dead cells and stimulates new cell production. Step 2- Hydration. Hydration is very important exfoliation. Hydration can be restored by Iontophoresis. After exfoliation apply good moisturizing cream. This helps you restore moisture within the skin and gives it a hydrated, soothing effect. Step 3- Moisturisation Our skin demands a richer moisturizer during winter. Richer not means expensive. Moisturizers containing Vitamin E, aloe, oatmeal and honey are also great moisturizers. Sun protection is not only for the beach or summers. Invest in a sunscreen with moisturizer. Choose moisturizers with anti oxidants to help protect from free radicals especially vitamin A, C& E. * Fruit and vegetables are the storehouse of vitamins and minerals. * Vitamin A rich foods like papaya, peaches, carrot, green leafy vegetables etc. increase resistant and supports skin growth. * Vitamin C rich foods such as lime, avla, oranges, guava, spinach, it helps in collagen synthesis, which holds skin cells together hence promoting a clear skin and a fresh complexion. * Fresh fruits and vegetables juices are amazing option to provide vitamins and minerals to skin which are directly absorbed through blood stream and keeps you hydrated. * Tomatoes are very rich in lycopene- which acts as an antioxidant that protects skin from internal damage. * Whole grains, cereals, almonds, walnuts are very rich in Vit E which increases makes our skin soft, smooth and supple. * In winters we don't feel like drinking water but consciously drink loads of water as water flushes out toxins and maintains skin elasticity. * Avoid intake of excessive tea/ coffee as it dehydrates the skin and blocks the absorption of nutrients adding to dull and dry look.
