Amazon
Jeff Bezos founded Amazon.com in 1994, which was based out of his garage in his Bellevue home in Washington. The initial name of the company was Cadabra, but later changed it to Amazon.com, based on Amazon river as it is one of the largest rivers in the world. The name emphasized the large size of the content and also as it starts with the word "A", which would show up near the beginning of alphabetical lists. Initially started as an online bookstore, it soon diversified into selling DVDs, CDs, MP3 downloads, computer software, video games, electronics, apparel, and much more.
