Mahesh Manjrekar: Actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar is among the interesting four-cornered battle between sitting Congress MP Gurudas Kamat, Shiv Sena leader Gajanan Kirtikar, AAP’s Mayank Gandhi, all of them fielded for a polls battle in the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha constituency. Manjrekar is best-known for his works like Vaastav, Kante and Marathi film Astitva, which won him the national award. As an actor, he first gained wide acclaim for his performance in Kaante and also starred in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire.
Mahesh Manjrekar stated, “This is the right time to plunge into politics. But I promise to retire when I am 60, as I want more youths to come (into politics),” reports Rediff.

Mohammed Kaif: Former cricketer, Mohammed Kaif will contest from Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh on a Congress ticket. It was in this constituency where the Late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had won the seat three times. However, the Lok Sabha seat had been a bastion of Samajwadi Party from 1996 till 2009.

But, in the 2009 polls, Bahujan Samaj Party won the seat. This time, the cricketer's popularity will put to the test in the election.
Kaif revealed, “I used to feel impelled to do something for my home state, particularly for my home town of Allahabad, which has a huge treasure trove of raw sporting talent which remains untapped for want of good coaching and training facilities. But, I used to be clueless as to how to do that. Now I feel I have a platform from which I can serve my people,” reports PTI.
