Bangalore: There are more than three million Flash developers around the world today. So, to stand out from the crowd, a developer needs to have great user experience, said Ben Forta, Director of Platform Evangelism, Adobe, on the day one of Adobe Flash Platform Summit 2010. Talking about the uses of Flash in various platforms today, Forta mentioned that 85 percent of Alexa top 100 websites use Flash. He further added that while 70 percent of web games use Flash, same amount of videos on the web need Flash. Since the use as well as demand of Flash is increasing, a Flash developer needs to focus on different user experiences to make the required developments in the product, he added. User experience encompasses all aspects of the end-user's interaction with the company, its services, and its products. The first requirement for an exemplary user experience is to meet the exact needs of the customer. In order to achieve high-quality user experience in a company's offerings there must be a seamless merging of the services of multiple disciplines, including engineering, marketing, graphical and industrial design, and interface design, according to Forta. Mentioning about Flash 10.1, the latest version of Flash, Forta said that the main focus behind developing Flash 10.1 is to make it suitable for smartphones and tablets. The latest version has been enhanced with mobile support. In addition, one of the key advantages of Flash 10.1 is its memory usage reduction capability. It consumes less memory to perform than the previous versions, he said. On upcoming features of Flash, Forta said, "The uses of Flash in today's world, whether in web or web-based games is growing day by day. There are a lot of new features coming in the near future. But putting aside these web-based platforms, Flash is also coming in TV sets soon."
