First Look! 5 Hottest Cars Launched In Indian Auto Expo

5. Maruti Celerio

Advantages: Gearless transmission, fuel economy

But the Catch is: Relatively less acceleration, higher cost

Though many cars are available, gearless ones can be counted on the fingertips. Although gearless cars have failed to take off in India before, Celerio wants to change that stat.

The Celerio has a new platform that is longer than the outgoing A Star model. The interior is similar to other contemporary Maruthi cars and it is simple and serves the purpose. Hatchback seats at the rear allow access to the boot space.

The usual 1-litre K series engine has been retained. With a maximum power output of 68 Ps and 90 Nm torque, performance is similar to WagonR and A star. Fuel economy of 23.1kmpl is very impressive. The car does not have a clutch pedal and does away with the need to change gears. The gear shift is efficient though not seamless.
