3. James Skinner
CEO
It's almost impossible to imagine that the man in charge of one of the most well-known food brands and the largest fast-food chain in the known universe was once a manager trainee at one of the company's restaurants. After serving nearly 10 years in the U. S. Navy, Skinner began his career with McDonald's in 1971 as a restaurant manager trainee in Carpentersville. He advanced quickly and held numerous positions in the U.S. Company, including director of field operations, market manager, regional vice president, U.S. senior vice president and zone manager. Jim Skinner leads the world's largest food service company with 33,000 restaurants in 118 countries. McDonald's serves 64 million customers each day and employs 1.7 million people across the globe in corporate and restaurant positions. Now he's overseer of about 31,000 locations and some 500,000 employees.
