5) ITC Sangeet Sammelan
ITC Sangeet Sammelan was started in the year 1971 in Delhi. It has now gained status of one of the most important episode of Indian classical music. It is deemed among the primary cultural events of our nation. This is a much awaited music event of the year as it is held throughout India. There is no fixed time duration of this event. Musicians and singers from all over the country participate in this. A cash award is also given to the oldest performer of the festival as an honour. ITC Sangeet Research Academy was founded in the year 1978 to encourage Indian classical music. Satyajeet Ray, was one of the trustees of this organization. Various genres of music included here are – Ghazal, Qawali, Dadra, Thumri, Tarana, Khayal, Dhamar and Dhrupad. A few eminent musicians who embellish this festival are - D. K. Datar (violinist), Pandit Manilal Nag (sitarist) and Subhra Guha (singer).
