Facebook Is Silently Rolling Out A Yahoo And Google Killer
Bangalore: Facebook is quietly expanding its wings towards one of the most sensitive areas to Yahoo and Google- an untouched area of online advertising. According to a Yahoo source who spoke to Business Insider, "There's a story brewing about a next very big business Facebook is building—one that competes with one of Yahoo's flagship ad products and would kill us."
As it turns out, Facebook’s new proposed business is a small yet very powerful tool which will allow the online retailers to track purchases by members of the social network who have viewed their ads. Essentially, what Facebook tries to do is tell the marketers, there is another way of advertising than just Google search ads, in which routing the advertising money to social network will surely payoff.
"Measuring ad effectiveness and outcomes is absolutely crucial to all types of businesses and marketers," said David Baser, a product manager for Facebook's ads business, to Reuters. Facebook’s new tool is designed for such direct response marketers, who advertise with the aim of boosting immediate sales, than brand building. “The ‘conversion measurement’ tool has been a top customer request for a long time,” he added.
Facebook’s tool tells the advertisers what percentage of people who saw their ad on Facebook went out and bought the advertised product.
