Bangalore: FarmVille, a free online game on Facebook that allows users to invest in farms and sell their produce for profit is the latest craze in the social networking space. Launched on June 19, the game adds nearly 35 million users monthly and will soon surpass the 35,554,755 record achieved by the How Well Do You Know Me? application, reports Telegraph. At FarmVille, you get a small plot of agricultural land and some virtual seed money to plough it and sow seeds. These seeds mature in anywhere between a couple of hours and four days, depending on the crop. One can sell them to earn money and experience points. After this, one can buy more land, tractors, harvesters, farmhouses and livestock. According to AllFacebook, a website which tracks the popularity of applications, there are over 72 million farmers on Facebook playing various kinds of farming games. Farmville's San Francisco-based developer, Zynga says that the game provided a simple, fun way for people to unwind at the end of the day. Players spend an average of 20 minutes a day tending to their virtual farms.
