More information for Detagging Facebook would now provide more information to users who choose to detag a photo or post. Clicking the 'remove tag' would mean that the photo of a user is no longer linked to his profile. Facebook noted in its blog that there was some confusion among its members about removing a tag. "People had different ideas of what removing a tag actually did, and different motivations for wanting to remove them," it added. Now, Facebook will display a window with details about what happens if a tag is removed and an option to take additional actions.
Chris Cox
A major revamp by Facebook was on the cards as Privacy worries have bothered the Social Networking Site since its inception days. The company has so far struggled to strike a balance between giving its users little control over privacy and giving them too much. Chris Cox, Product President, Facebook told BBC, "We want to make this stuff unmistakably clear. It has to be clear that Facebook is a leader in how people control who sees what." Chris Cox refused to admit that the new privacy setting s meant the old system was 'faulty'. "I don't think the old controls were bad. I just think the new ones are much better. The goal is just to make more inline and more immediate, just right there in the profile," he said. Cox also dismissed suggestions that Facebook was changing its privacy settings as it had plans to open up to children below 13. "This change is really just about the people that are on Facebook today and the new users who just joined today and making it easier for them. This really is not in any way about the under-13 experience," Cox said. He also assured there would not be any undue changes to users' privacy settings during the changeover process. Existing users will retain their current default sharing settings. The changes would take effect from tomorrow.
