Bangalore: Eastern Software System (ESS), an ERP company offering Total IT outsourcing (TITO) and services to SMBs and enterprises, has implemented an economical and secure VPN (virtual private network) for Bangalore-based Wadpack, a corrugated box packaging manufactur in India. Wadpack has been running the web-enabled ebizframe, an ERP solution from ESS for almost a decade now. Wadpack has also outsourced their entire IT to ESS. Anil Bakht, Chairman and Managing Director, ESS said "Wadpack was looking for linking its two major locations and roaming users through a secured connectivity. We have successfully implemented a Unified Threat Management (UTM) based secured VPN providing Wadpack secure VPN connectivity between multiple locations while running the ebizframe ERP through centralized live server." The UTM was sourced from Watchguard, and implemented by ESS in association with Medley Marketing. The term UTM denotes network firewalls that contain multiple security features like e-mail spam filtering, an intrusion prevention system, anti-virus capability and Internet filtering in addition to the functions of a traditional firewall, all in a single box. Besides the ease of maintenance, training and support also comes from a single vendor who's supplied the UTM box. A single window solution helps reduce the hassles associated with managing multi vendor security systems.
