Mumbai: Seiko Epson announced that it had recently shipped its 70 millionth HTPS TFT (high-temperature polysilicon, thin-film transistor) panel for 3LCD projection systems. This amounts to a total of more than 23 million 3LCD projectors.
The market for projectors using Epson's HTPS technology has to date been primarily been based on business presentations. Recently, however, applications have expanded, as projectors have come to be used in home theater for a cinema like movie viewing experience, in education as an effective tool for supporting classes, and in commerce and other fields for projecting lectures, concerts and other events held in large auditoriums. With the projector market forecast to grow by approximately 10 percent annually, Epson is confident that demand for its HTPS will continue to grow.
"Epson is delighted to have reached this important milestone," said Samba Moorthy, Senior General Manager, Sales and Marketing Epson India. "As the world's leading projector technology, Epson's HTPS offers projector customers in the home, business and education markets a wide range of benefits. Going forward, we are dedicated to providing industry-leading and innovative products to projector manufacturers and end-users alike."
Combining its cutting-edge liquid crystal, high-aperture ratio, and other original technologies, Epson will expand and enhance its HTPS lineup with panels that further raise the performance of 3LCD projectors with their increasingly diverse applications, higher levels of brightness and contrast, and ever more compact design.
