1994 was a brilliant year for cinema. Everybody would have been happier if Forrest Gump would've won the Oscar on any other year. But the question is how it beat Pulp Fiction, the Shaw Shank Redemption and Quiz Show? Directed by Tarantino, Pulp Fiction was the most significant movie of the '90s and The Shaw shank redemption was a stirring example on unleashing our full potential by accepting new challenges, building on our strengths and having the valor to fight back in opposition to life's injustices and wretchedness. Despite 7 Oscar nominations, The Shaw shank Redemption did not succeed in winning one and Pulp Fiction won the Best Original Screenplay, but lost in all six of the other categories in which it was nominated.
