DuPont to build R&D center in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: DuPont India has announced setting up a state-of-art research and development center in Hyderabad, with investments worth Rs 100 crore. The R&D facility, which will be the sixth outside US, will be constructed in the ICICI Knowledge park and accommodate more than 300 scientists and other employees.
Uma Chowdhry, Vice-President and Chief Science & Technology Officer, informed that the DuPont Knowledge Center would focus on discovery research as well as applications development and other knowledge services including IP management.
According to Dr Homi Bhedwar, Director, India Knowledge Center, the R&D center will focus on integrated science the addition of biology to traditional strengths in chemistry and materials science to develop DuPont's application pipeline in India and other emerging markets.
Besides developing tailor-made products for the Indian market, the center will be connected with the lobal R&D centers, helping share knowledge platforms.
DuPont has more than 75 R&D facilities across the globe with over 40 in the US and more than 35 in 11 other nations. DuPont investments are on an average of US$1.3bn annually on global R&D in a diverse range of technologies for markets, which include agriculture, automotive, construction, electronics, chemicals and industrial materials.
