D-Link opens second Indian R&D center

Bangalore: Focusing on converged IP solutions, business routers and gateways and wireless products for Indian and global markets, D-Link, a networking company, has opened a new R&D center at Electronic City, Bangalore.
N Balakrishanan, Associate Director, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in the presence of K R Naik, Executive Chairman, D-Link India, inaugurated the new R&D center.
This is the second R&D center for the company in Bangalore and fifth worldwide. Its other three R&D centers are located in Taiwan, U.S. and China.
Spread over an area of 8,077 square meters, the new center can seat more than 500 employees.
"D-Link India is among the very few Indian IT companies involved in designing and developing its own products besides manufacturing, marketing, distributing and supporting its products," Naik said.
The existing R&D center in Bangalore and the manufacturing unit in Goa have evolved products in networking, VoIP and convergence products.
"These two centers focus on system design, hardware, software design and development as well as product tests and validation. The centers also develop protocol stacks and libraries that go into these products," said Jangoo Dalal, MD, D-Link India.
