Lucknow: Chhattrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University (CSMMU) will soon join the wireless networking club, as the medical university is planning to make it a Wi-Fi enabled campus. An announcement to this effect was made by Vice-Chancellor, Saroj Chooramani Gopal, reports TNN.
Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that can be used within a limited range of electro-magnetic field. Computers in such a system are linked with a Wi-Fi network card which is further connected to a wireless router. In case a second person wants to access internet through this network, he can simply sit with his/her laptop within the range of the Wi-Fi. However, they will need the permission of the administrator for this. "This will be of great help to the faculty and even the students," said a Senior Official of the CSMMU administration.
Students are excited about the development as this will bring their internet bills down. "IITs and IIMs had this facility and quite a number of private colleges also enjoyed the same. Now we are also a part of the same techno-tribe," said Amit, an undergraduate student at CSMMU.
CSMMU also has plans to computerize all of its out patient departments (OPDs), medicine stores and miscellaneous stores. The aim behind this is to increase general efficiency.
