Convergia deploys NexTone's session controllers
GERMANTOWN, MD: NexTone Communications, a provider of session controller technologies for secure peering of packet networks, today announced Convergia Networks has deployed NexTone's Multiprotocol Signaling Switch and edge Multiprotocol Session Controller in its global voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) network. The NexTone solution enables the interconnection of multiple carriers' VoIP networks. A provider of communication services and broadband solutions with points of presence (PoPs) in 45 countries, Convergia will rely on the NexTone solution to expand its VoIP service footprint into Venezuela, Mexico and Uruguay. "By giving us an end-to-end VoIP network, the NexTone solution will reduce our peering capital expenditures substantially for new VoIP traffic," said Carlos Jurado, Director of voice services with Convergia. "The sophisticated routing and signaling interoperability provided by the Multiprotocol Signaling Switch and Multiprotocol Session Controller frees us to affordably and quickly pursue revenue opportunities in new markets. NexTone is helping Convergia set a foundation for cost-effective, ongoing growth in next-generation services." "Convergia's deployment of our solution provides a great example of why we are leading the session-controller market," said Raj Sharma, president of NexTone Communications. "Our solution is comprehensive, providing key capabilities at both the network edge and core. This has enabled customers such as Convergia to reduce reliance on traditional VoIP technologies and, thereby, significantly reduce both CAPEX and OPEX spending. NexTone's customers have deployed more than 1 billion minutes a month of VoIP capacity." Germantown, Maryland headquartered NexTone Communications was founded by Raj Sharma in February 1998 along with Ravi G.
