Bangalore: Networking giant Cisco is planning to double the networking talent in India from one million to two million by 2012. Cisco which has partnered with some of the country's leading IT training partners like NIIT, Global Knowledge Networks, Datacraft, Fastlane and Aricent, aims to reach its goal of training an additional 300,000 networking individuals in the next two years, reports the Financial Express.
"India is home to a huge talent pool which can sustain the needs of all kinds of industry verticals. Cisco, through its various talent development initiatives, wants to tap the potential candidates and expose them to networking specialisation," said Jeanne Beliveau Dunn, General Manager, Learning@Cisco.
While the company is growing in double-digits, Cisco's education segment is witnessing massive growth of 400 percent. With 80 centres across the country, the company has already completed 30,194 certifications since FY08. Cisco claims to have 96 percent full-time employment rate for its flagship programme - Cisco Certified Inter-network Expert (CCIE) certification. The company believes there is as much talent available as is required in the growing networking industry, but they lack the right skills.
"As network technology rapidly evolves, demand will continue to grow for qualified individuals with the skills and experience to build, troubleshoot and repair networks and infrastructure. Our partnership and programmes will support the learning and development of current and future network professionals," Dunn said.
