Bangalore: Be it a search for great moral significance or spiritual significance, a pilgrimage to Himalayas will rejuvenate your eternal spirit and attitude. Each part of Himalaya is covered with holy sites associated with the exploits of the gods, the waters of sacred rivers or the presence of holy men. Nestling in the lofty peaks of Himalayas are the four most holy pilgrimages of India -Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, which are collectively referred to as Char Dham of Hinduism. Badrinath
Badrinath is the most important site in Chardam. The temple is situated at the altitude of 3130mt on the banks of Alakananda. Tapt Kund is a famous hot water sulphur spring near the temple. The temple, built by Adi Shankaracharaya, is divided in to three parts- the 'Garbha Griha' or the sanctum, the 'Darshan Mandap' where the rituals are conducted and the 'Sabha Mandap' where devotees assemble. Lord Vishnu?s idol, sculpted in a black stone, is the main attraction of the temple. There is a gate in Joshimath to control the traffic; it will be open at an interval of 2 hours from 6 am to 4 pm. If you reach Joshimath after 4 pm you will have to stay there over night.
