Redwood City: Online travel search engine cFares has appointed Tom Kalinske as CEO. The company has also closed the additional equity financing for a total of $7.6 million, led by Oakland, California-based Claremont Creek Ventures and Garage Technology Ventures.
Tom Kalinske, newly appointed CEO of cFares, said, "In these tough economic times, finding the best deals and doing more with less is a huge priority and we are very pleased to have the support from our investors to continue helping consumers find the cheapest fares."
Tom joined cFares from Leapfrog where he served as CEO and helped the brand grow from a small niche company in 1997 to the largest supplier of educational products content and toys for children in the world. Prior to that, Tom was CEO of Knowledge Universe, Sega Video Games, Matchbox and Mattel. He has extensive experience building consumer brands and looks forward to elevating the cFares brand as the go-to resource for consumer and business travel online.
cFares is a travel meta-search site that searches the Internet and connects leisure and small business travelers directly to airline and online travel agency sites to help them find the best deals. cFares help customers identify the lowest fares, provide discounts for its Platinum members, and offers tools that filter and sort results.
"cFares differentiates itself in the market with a new technological approach and access to below market rates, addressing needs of both the consumer and the airline industry" said Nat Goldhaber, Managing Senior Partner from Claremont Creek Venture Partners.
