Gurgaon: Gurgaon-based personal ground transportation provider Carzonrent has launched the EasyCabs Mobile Application suite, a free mobile app to enable convenient booking of EasyCabs via mobile phones. The app would enable users to check the status, modify, or cancel the booking. The app would be available for Blackberry and iPhone users, and can also be on Android and Symbian-based mobile phones.

The EasyCabs mobile application which will be available for service to customers in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, will enable customers to book an Easycab in a matter of few clicks. The app will also assist in creating and managing customers’ profiles, reserving the cab, tagging frequently travelled locations, modifying and even cancelling reservations amongst its various user friendly features.

Founded in 2000 by Rajiv K. Vij, Carzonrent offers end-to-end long and short term car rental solutions and has a fleet of more than 6500 cars across the country. The company has presence in 13 cities and 4 major airports and is planning to expand its operations to 40 more cities and airport locations. Carzonrent has raised 36 crore from BTS India PE in January 2011. Previously the company had raised 27 crore from Sequoia Capital in 2006 and 6 crore from SIDBI Ventures.

A mobile website has been designed that neither needs JavaScript to be enabled on the browser of low-end phones nor high speed connections. None of the pages on the website are greater than 6KB in size, which would facilitate quick download even in low-bandwidth conditions.

EasyCabs Mobile Application is integrated with a middleware which in turn interfaces with the booking engines of various cities. Commuters who will book cabs through this mobile application will also be exempted from any kind of convenience charge.

The company has plans to enhance the EasyCabs Mobile Application, with features that will enable tracking the designated cab once the booking is confirmed, checking live traffic information on the designated route, using the device GPS for start address, and much more.

Prior to founding Carzonrent, Vij held various positions at senior levels in Sales and Marketing with Hindustan Motors. He was the Head of the Car Rental Business at International Travel House and was the Head Sales at Travel House. Vij has done his graduation from Hindu College, New Delhi and a Post Graduation in Management from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University.
