Calicut IT Firms To Incubate Startups

"Each startup will be given a cubicle in the company and they will get guided by the Cafit members who are serving the US, UK, Singapore and African markets. They could also participate in group activities, discussion and workshops conducted by Cafit," said Duleep Sahadevan, President, Cafit.

Though Kozhikode was considered as one of the 50 promising cities for IT, it could not live up to the expectation. "Kozhikode doesn't have a startup eco-system like the ones in other towns like Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram and it prompted us to found Cafit Square Incubator," said Sahadevan.

Apart from providing a cubicle each, shortlisted startups will also get direct guidance from members from the US, UK, Singapore and African markets. It is also reported that Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K) will play a supportive role in this initiative.

On the other hand, National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), has also confirmed that Cafit is in touch with it for helping set up startups especially with Special Economic Zone (SEZ) rules.
